We got together with our 3rd grade buddies to take on a design challenge. The buddy teams had to create a catapult that would launch a small eraser the furthest. The teams were given the following criteria and constraints:
1. Materials needed to be brought from home, or there was the option to use the tongue depressors, tape
and rubber bands supplied.
2. The force of the catapult must be used to launch the eraser, no throwing it.
3. The catapult must stand upright on its own.
4. No working on the project at home.
5. The catapult must be no larger than 1 cubic foot.
All teams worked so well together and came up with very creative ideas.
